Maybe it’s because I’m unmoved by football, but as I read your two anecdotes, all I could picture was a bunch of Republicans (and Clarence Thomas) saying, as Trump walks through the door, “We’ll prosecute the next scumbag.” And “Find me a cooperative Rabbi” isn’t different enough from "Find me 11,000 votes.”
While at Camp Tecumseh in 1966 , age 13, I happened to be walking along a trail in the woods when George Munger came riding up on a horse. George, age 57 at the time, was the director of the camp which in addition to sports focused on all things outdoors , hiking , canoeing and camping. Horse back riding was not on the list of activities. When Mr. Munger said hello I responded ,"I didn't know you rode horses?" He told me that it was how he relaxed and asked if I would like to try it. I said yes, and he directed me to the stables beyond the big woods that were not on the camp map. This is where I met the caretaker, Jim Morris, who outfitted me with a bay pony and taught me how to ride and jump fences on horseback. It was an amazing experience. I will forever remember and appreciate my chance encounter with George Munger who helped me learn how to ride and jump horseback.
