From reader Len Lear:

Hysterical! “My Heart Has a Mind of Its Own,” one of my all-time favorites. “You Made Me Love You,” another good choice.

Those were the days when you could actually understand the words to a song, and they made sense. Unlike when Trump or J.D. Vance talks.

From reader John Owens:

Though I agree with most of your assessment, you should not forget that your beloved Obama allowed “Vlad” to invade Crimea without a hint of resistance. It was “the honorable “ Joe Biden who said he would allow a “small incursion.”

Trump isn’t alone in bowing to Vlad.

Points well taken. But Biden did call Putin a "killer" in 2021. Trump has barely uttered a negative word about Putin.

From reader Robert Zaller:

Yes, Trump was an admirer of Putin in his salad days. But now that he runs—really runs—the world’s greatest power without those pesky generals or anyone else in the way, why leave Ukraine solely to Putin? The “deal” to be made is how to carve it up with him but to his own advantage. Let Putin have his measly 20%, and Trump will invest away the rest. And don’t think he’s going to let Europe get away. Macron, Merz, Starmer: The Monroe Doctrine is on the way!

And what about Mr. Xi? Who is he in love with? Does he want to be the third wheel in this bromance or does he have the smarts to find a new partner - as in Europe? With the US self-destructing, does he really need Putin? Seems like he'd be smart to support Ukraine and join Europe in moving into the future instead of loving two guys who want to spend the future in the past.

Dan,

Here is my opinion:

Trump is a secret spy for Putin. Putin wants Ukraine under his control, he wants to weaken the United States, he wants to weaken and split apart the Western democracies, especially between the United States and Nato and the European Union.

Trump is doing that. First, he is throwing Ukraine under the bus. Second, he is destroying the United States Military and government, by firing personnel haphazardly and throwing away their institutional memory and expertise. And finally, he is weakening the alliance between the United States and its Western allies. It sure appears that Trump is doing everything that Putin wants.

I hope that I am wrong. I love this country, and am horrified how quickly our democracy can be destroyed. If Congress ever comes to its senses, Trump should be impeached or be forced to resign. Marion Rita Hubing

His narcissism is so extreme, in my opinion, that he's incapable of thinking about anything or anyone but himself. Included in anything or anyone are The United States of America and the American people. When he says to Zelinskyy that he's being disrespectful to the country what he means is he's being disrespectful to Trump. With Trump it's "me me me" always. No exceptions.
